When we as believers are trying to communicate with those outside the Faith, secular literature is often the most powerful for us in the faith because it communicates the Universal Principles which God has stamped into the Universe. But you will have to filter the content by some hard thinking.
Some of the references are hard to take. They are deeply disturbing. However in the Body of Believers there are bad people. Yet the bad ones don't have an X on their backs. They look like us, the sound like us, but often bring deep sorrow and sometimes visible evil into our Assemblies. There is hope for those who have been harmed by evil men and women. The Lord has a unique way to help children and adults through the trauma of abuse and violence. Throughout OT and NT there are passages which when studied and memorized set the believer free from the horror of events which have brought the scars.
The scars become reminders of what God has done to deliver us from the internal damage from events in life and from ill-spirited people. God is able to bring restoration to a life-style which is productive and positive.
